What is Basic Rate Interface (BRI)?

Basic Rate Interface, an ISDN configuration, used in subscriber lines that are related to those which have been used for voice-grade telephone service for a long time. BRI configuration offers 2 data channels and 1 control channel.

Data channels are also known as B channels, which gets used for user or voice data. On the other hand, the control channel is famous with the name of D channel, and it is used for the amalgamation of data, X.25 packet networking, and control/signalling.
